Pyrite is an Iron Sulfide, Its metallic shine and brassy yellow hue give it a resemblance to gold, hence the nickname it is given 'fools gold'. The name Pyrite is greek for 'firestone', because it was believed that Pyrite, a sparking stone, held fire in its core.

These pyrite spheres are one of the higher qualities of Pyrite available and are extracted legally from the Huanzala mine in Huallanca District, Áncash, Peru.
